Make sure that while you’re visiting Plaza Catalunya and the Rambla, you absolutely avoid eating anything here. The rule extends to any tourist attraction and its surrounding area, but especially those. The one huge exception to this in the Mercat del la Boqueria, which is an awesome market with lots of booths serving up delicious local treats and fresh fruits, vegetables, and best of all, freshly squeezed juices. Also, any place with a sign that reads “Paellador,” definitely avoid. Any restaurant that has a waiter standing outside trying to wave you in, run the opposite way.

Another very popular tapas spot that’s also often crowded, you’ll find some delicious little dishes that are absolutely divine. While you’re here, you absolutely must try the patatas bravas, which are spicy cubed potatoes served with a delicious sauce.

Mercat de la Boqueria
Remember when we told you that the only place at La Rambla you shouldn’t avoid is the Mercat de la Boqueria? It’s one of the largest food markets in the city and it’s full of so many food stalls, you’ll be tempted to spend the day here. You can sit down for a full meal or grab something to take with you and enjoy an outdoor picnic.

For a true delicious cup of local hot chocolate, you must visit Chocolateria La Nena. This quirky little place is adorable and serves up plenty of sweets, of which one of the most popular is its yummy carrot cake that you should definitely try.
