Have you heard of Bermuda? Ever visited? This breathtaking island needs to be next on your list. The small British colony is the most beautiful I have ever happened upon, and I’ve been back…five times. From the pink sand of the vast beaches, to the warmness of the locals, I am a huge fan of this serene escape. The short 90 minute flight from New York’s JFK airport makes it even more appealing. A 7 day trip to Bermuda can be a bit pricey, so make sure to save your pennies, you’ll thank me later.

Horseshoe Bay

Although it’s ranked 8th most beautiful beach in the world by TripAdvisor, it’s #1 on my list, and that’s saying something, I travel quite a bit. After passing the small shack serving ice cream all day and walking through the lush vegetation, you have arrived. You’ll see tourists cliff jumping into the clear blue water, kids building sand castles, couples snorkeling along the water’s edge, everyone enjoying themselves. The feeling of sitting on a big beach blanket in the sand, overlooking the beautiful bay is something I can’t really explain. The soft sand, the warm clear water and the sound of laughter in the air did it for me. Horseshoe Bay, thank you for the memories, I love you and will be back very soon.

Bermuda Shorts

Now, I know you’ve heard of the legendary Bermuda Short. Falling higher than a normal short at just above the knee, the 3 inch hem shorts are a popular clothing item in Bermuda and around the world. Beloved most by preps, the shorts can be seen on the golf course and in the yacht club. Due to the warm temperatures, locals are known to sport the shorts all year round. Back in 2009, the Duke of Edinburgh was presented with his very own pair during a visit to the island. Before you board your flight, be sure to hit the mall to grab a pair for yourself…foreigners who show up to the island empty handed are sent back to where they came from.

The Bermuda Triangle

Do not worry, the Triangle will not swallow you up mid journey, at least i hope not. The famous coordinates in the North Atlantic Ocean are said to be cursed; planes and ships disappearing mysteriously. The last known disappearance was in August of 1963, a flight from Puerto Rico to Miami vanished in thin air, no trace of the plane or its passengers and crew ever found. But don’t worry, all is well, the ideas surrounding the Triangle are mainly conspiracy theories, and nothing is backed up with hard evidence. Plus, how cool would it be to tell your friends you went to Bermuda and survived the Triangle? You can even get a shirt proving it.
