In an interview, Céline had mentioned her mother’s strong objection against her relationship with René. She said that when she told her mother how much she liked him, her mother insisted that René was not a good choice as a partner. Here’s what Celine had to say about it: “When I told her I had some really strong feelings for Rene she tried everything to kill him and make me snap out of it… I was very frustrated and mad at first, but she tried to make me understand that this man tried marriage twice before – he has three children, he’s not responsible, ‘I want the perfect Prince Charming for you’.”

She Had Problems Conceiving
After having 13 successful albums released in the 1990s, Céline had announced that she was going to take a break. Her hiatus was primarily due to the difficulties she experienced in conceiving a child even after six years of marriage with René. She even underwent two fertility operations. Their long wait was finally over when their son, René-Charles Dion Angélil, was born on the 25th of January 2001.
