Claudia Cardinale, 1967.

Claudia Cardinale, the beautiful Italian actress, certainly turned heads! We’d even say she took the world by storm after her role in The Pink Panther. At first glance, you might not be sure what this picture is of. But this is how little GenX ers watched the solar eclipse of February 26, 1979! Their helmets were self-made from boxes and brown paper bags. They went outside to see the eclipse of 1979. This photo became famous when Canadian artist Janet Bright posted it on her blog. She described the eclipse by stating, “I’m fairly certain it wasn’t really as dark (pitch black) as my faulty memory tells, but there it is – the film running in my head, of a warm(ish) cold, mid-winter day when the moon got in the way.”
